National menu labeling policy 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass health care bill. What you might not have heard from all the talking heads, talk radio and politicos is that in the bill is a national menu labeling policy, which will provide calorie information on menus and menu boards at chain restaurants across the country. Menu labeling will allow people to make healthier, more informed decisions for themselves and their families.

Regardless of you you feel about the rest health care bill I think this is something we can all agree is a positive step forward for our health and the health of our families.

What do you think?

Cheers,

George

Looks like just another way for the government to make our lives difficult in FS.

The folks that eat that crap don't care what they are doing to their bodies.

Do you really think they have a clue what having a big mac labeled as 1100 calories (or whatever) and the fries another 5 or 6 hundred ans a yummy thick shake another 4 or 5 hundred They don't realize of care that the full days calorie intake.

Hell all the crap food talk makes me hungry, gonna throw some fries in the friolator and cot them with cheeze whiz and the left over bacon pieces form breakfast, YUM

One way of looking at it is health care costs. It's no secret that N.Americasn have been gaining weight constantly over the last 25 years, and kids are at most risk.

Think of this as a repeat of the cigarette warning labels that came about in the '70's, basically the Gov't's way of saying,

"I told you so"............................

National menu labeling policy has mandated that chain restaurants with 20 or more locations will have to display nutritional and calorie information.
Many beverage trade association are also told to put calorie counts on the front of soda containers, soda fountains and vending machines.
It's both good and bad in some or the other way. Following document has all the details about this law. National Menu Labelling Policy
I think that there is no harm in this. Nowadays most of the people are aware of the nutritional value of every food item. Only it would be more specific. Also generally people come to hotel and restaurant for a change in regular diet. They wont be much concerned about the nutritional value of the food. So there is nothing to worry about.
